Center of Economic Research: "Annual inflation rate hits 28% in Azerbaijan"

The Center of Economic Research of Azerbaijan declared results of the September statistical observations of prices in 11 regions of the country in the framework of the program "Alternative calculation of inflation", based on the project of institutional aid of the Budapest fund of the Open Society Institute.

According to sources from the center, the consumer prices index made 0.57% in September of 2008, including 0.35% in Baku and 0.78% in the regions.

The highest inflation rate is recorded for services (1.11%), Inflation rate on nonfoods made 0.67%, foodstuffs 0.32%.

According to the center, through 9 months of 2008, inflation rate in Azerbaijan made 17.42% and through the past year 28.34%.

By other calculations of the center, in September of 2008 the cost of the minimal consumer basket in Azerbaijan for active population made AZN 108.52, pensioners AZN 80.63 and children (0-15 years of age) AZN 99.01.
