The Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries' observation mission assessed the Azerbaijani parliamentary elections as democratic.

The elections met international norms and standards, head of the Azerbaijan-Turkey Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Mustafa Kabakci said at a press conference today on the mission's observation results.
According to Kabakci, the authorities created equal conditions for all of the candidates, which contributed to holding democratic elections. Kabakchi also noted some minor violations, which the mission faced in the observation process. However, he said, "they were promptly eliminated and could not affect the democratic elections."
The mission arrived in Azerbaijan on Nov. 5 to monitor the elections. The mission included three Kazakh MPs and five Turkish MPs. The TurkPA secretary general's deputies from Kazakhstan and Turkey also monitored the elections.
Azerbaijan held the elections on Nov. 7. The voter turnout was 50.14 percent (roughly 2.48 million voters), the Azerbaijani Central Election Commission's (CEC) Elections Information Center told Trend.
