Border guards prevent 33 attempts of violations in July

Employees of the State Border Service (SBS) of Azerbaijan in July thwarted 33 attempts to violate the border, detaining 56 people.

Among those detained 19 were Azerbaijani citizens, 10 from Bangladesh, five from Uzbekistan, four from Nigeria, Pakistan and Russia, three from Iran, two from Georgia, Cameroon and Sri Lanka and one citizen of Moldova, reports Trend.

 As many as 34 people were detained while preventing 23 cases of violation of border regime rules fixed in the Caspian Sea.

So, 1,202 people were detained by border control, in respect of whom the corresponding measures will be taken.

As a result of measures 470 people were detained in July to combat crime and handed over to the relevant bodies and law enforcement agencies of Azerbaijan.

Thus, border guards prevented 16 cases of smuggling, averting trafficking of over 1.5 kilograms of narcotic substances across the state border.

As a result of measures taken in fight against smuggling, the state agency confiscated more than 106,000 manat, as well as, two guns, 16 cartridges for Makarov pistol, ten rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, one store and brass knuckles, $1,560, eight carpets made in Armenia, 11,115 packs of cigarettes, 93 mobile phones, one rubber boat, 1624 various types of drugs, 335 grams of mercury, industrial and agricultural products.
