Azerbaijani armed forces destroyed an Armenian unmanned aerial vehicle on the contact line of Armenian-Azerbaijani troops on January 29.

The UAV was destroyed over the Azerbaijani positions on the contact line of the two countries’ armed forces in the direction of Aghdam region, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said. “The drone that was flying over Aghdam district on the frontline was downed at 14:00 local time,” the Ministry said.

Earlier, a military helicopter belonging to Armenian armed forces was downed by the Azerbaijani armed forces while it was attempting to carry out provocative actions on the frontline.

Two Mi-24 attack helicopters of the Armenian air forces approached and made attack maneuvers in the immediate vicinity of the positions of the Azerbaijani armed forces nearby the village of Kengerly in the occupied Aghdam region on November 12 . One of the helicopters was shot down on the very same occupied territory.

Reportedly, the downed helicopter belonged to air base No. 15 stationed in Erebuni military base near Yerevan and its crew members were military servicemen of the Armenian armed forces.

Defying all international calls to abide by the ceasefire agreement with Azerbaijan, Armenia still continues to aggravate tension on the contact line of Armenian-Azerbaijani troops with constant provocations on frontline.

The Armenian armed forces violated the ceasefire once again during the monitoring operations of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.

The Defense Ministry reported that the monitoring process which was held on the contact line of troops near the Mazam village of Azerbaijan’s Gazakh region on January 29 under the mandate of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office has been completed.

However, during the monitoring, the Armenian armed forces once again resorted to the sabotage move on the frontline.

Thus, the Armenian side didn’t lead correctly the field assistants of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson from the opposite side of the contact line to the appointed coordinates in accordance with the agreement reached before the monitoring.

The Ministry said monitoring was possible only after resolving certain procedures.

However, shortly before the end of the monitoring, Armenian armed forces violated ceasefire regime firing at the Azerbaijani positions near the area, where the OSCE representatives were holding the monitoring.

The Ministry reiterated that these kinds of provocations of the Armenian armed forces that ignore the norms and principles of international law have become more systematic.

“Every time with aggravating tension on the contact line the Armenian side obstacle the normal functioning of international organizations and deliberately hinder performing their responsibilities,” the ministry said.

The OSCE monitoring was last interrupted in mid-January after Armenian armed forces fired at OSCE representatives.
