Azerbaijan's embassy in Pakistan has organized some sacrifice distribution ceremonies. The ceremonies are held on behalf of Azerbaijan's First Lady, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO Mehriban Aliyeva in several districts of Pakistan.

The ceremonies on the occasion of Eid al-Adha were held in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Okara, Multan of Punjab, Dera-Ismail Khan and Lakki Marwat (KPK).

In Punjab province, the event was held in collaboration with Bait-ul-Mal (Sweet Homes), in Dera Ismail Khan with AIMS Foundation and in Lakki Marwat with Saif foundation.

Addressing the ceremony, former Chairman of Foreign Relations Committee of the Pakistani Senate Salim Saifullah Khan, former Deputy Speaker of National Assembly and member of Pakistan-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group Faisal Karim Kundi and Managing Director of Bait-ul-Mal Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh thanked the first lady and people of Azerbaijan for standing hand in hand with people of Pakistan during the days of Eid al-Adha.

They also spoke about "unique cordial relations that exist between Pakistan and Azerbaijan."

The events were also attended by Director of AIMS Ahmad Kundi, Director Administration Raja Jahangir Akhtar, President of Azerbaijan-Pakistan Youth Forum Asif Noor and other prominent people, as well as Ambassador of Azerbaijan Dashgin Shikarov and the embassy officials.

Earlier, a charitable event was also held in Pakistan's capital Islamabad to mark Eid al-Adha with the support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation's President Mehriban Aliyeva.

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation started its activity in Pakistan after an earthquake in 2005 by launching an initiative to build a new modern school for girls in a destroyed region in Muzaffarabad. The 500-pupil school was built in a mountainous area by 2007.

The foundation regularly provides the school with all the necessary means and pays monthly scholarships to five deserving students at the school. After complete reconstruction and renovation in 2012, the school was named after the First Lady of Azerbaijan.

Mehriban Aliyeva initiated a series of healthcare, education, and humanitarian projects throughout the provinces of Pakistan in 2012 and 2013.

The foundation also took part in other celebrations held on World Blood Donor Day in Peshawar.
