Russia plans to deliver second batch of tanks to Azerbaijan

Russia will deliver another batch of T-90S main battle tanks to Azerbaijan in August, Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) Concern of Russia, represented in KADEX-2014 defense expo in Astana told APA.

The batch includes 30 T-90S tanks. The tanks will be tested with the participation of UVZ specialists in Azerbaijan.

Commenting on the recent media reports that UVZ will sale extra 100 T-90S tanks to Azerbaijan, the UZV representatives said the question is about the contract signed between the two sides in 2012 on the sale and purchase of 100 T-90S tanks. The first batch of the order will be delivered to Baku in early 2013. The delivery is being conducted on schedule.

“The question is not about the additional order. Talks are underway on the purchase of new products. Azerbaijan is the largest customer of UVZ”, said in the concern.

According to information obtained by APA, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry and UVZ are discussing on the sale and purchase of T-90SM tanks. There is no a relevant contract.

T-90S tanks were showcased in the military parade in Baku last year.
