CoE Secretary General heads to Azerbaijan

The Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland will arrive May 8, in Azerbaijan, the press-service of the Council of Europe reported.

The purpose of the visit is to discuss prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Council of Europe and Azerbaijan's chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

It is expected that Jagland will hold meetings with the Azerbaijani officials within the framework of the visit.

Earlier it was expected that the delegation headed by Jagland would visit Azerbaijan on 22-24 April. But the visit was postponed due to urgent discussions held in Strasbourg regarding the events taking place in Ukraine and due to his participation in the meetings of the Committee of Ministers.
