The first meeting of the Pakistani-Azerbaijani friendship group in Pakistan`s Parliament will be held in April, Acting Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Murtaza Javed Abbasi said during the meeting with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Pakistan Dashgin Shikarov, held at the embassy on March 13.
Shikarov, speaking about friendly relations between the two countries at the meeting, expressed his gratitude to Pakistan for the support of Azerbaijan in all issues, including the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The Azerbaijani people are also always together with Pakistan, he noted.
The ambassador presented information on the current situation in the negotiations on the Nagorno -Karabakh conflict, expressed his gratitude for the recognition of the Khojaly genocide by the Pakistani Parliament and the adoption of resolutions demanding unconditional withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
Discussions followed on the economic relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan. It was stressed that there is great potential for the development of relations in this regard. The Ambassador noted that Pakistan can benefit from the experience of Azerbaijan in the oil and gas industry, heavy industry, construction, and agriculture. At the same time, he said that the production of light industry, the pharmaceutical industry, and agriculture of Pakistan is of interest to Azerbaijan.
Information on economic reforms, energy projects implemented in Azerbaijan, landscaping work conducted in Baku and the regions of the country, and the country's investment projects abroad was given also.
Acting Speaker said that friendly and strategic relationship between the two countries continues to develop dynamically. Javed Abbasi stressed that Pakistan unequivocally supports Azerbaijan in the Armenian- Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and will not recognize Armenia until the Azerbaijani lands are liberated.
