Proposals by Azerbaijan included in UN Secretary General’s Report

12 December 2013 [18:35] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan’s proposals have been included in the UN Secretary General's Report “Confidence-building measures in the regional and sub-regional context”, presented as part of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly.

The proposals of the Azerbaijani side identify main problems that impede the building of confidence in the South Caucasus.

These problems particularly include such issues as Armenia's aggressive policy against Azerbaijan, gross violation of the norms and principles of international law by Armenia, occupation of Azerbaijani lands, the policy of ethnic cleansing, non-compliance with weapons monitoring and other questions.

The Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 per cent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding regions.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding regions.
