
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Saturday that the Islamic Republic of Iran and Republic of Azerbaijan are to broaden cooperation in the fight against terrorism, IRNA reported.
President Ahmadinejad made the remark in a meeting with Azerbaijani Minister of National Security Eldar Mahmudov on the sidelines of the International Conference on Global Fight against Terrorism in Tehran on Saturday.
In the meeting, President Ahmadinejad expressed satisfaction with the close cooperation between the two countries.
Tehran and Baku with ample political, cultural and economic capabilities can meet the two nations' interests and help restore peace and stability to the region, said the Iranian president.
Active presence of Azerbaijan in the conference could help deepen ties and cooperation between the two countries, Ahmadinejad said.
The Azeri minister, for his part, described the two sides' relations as friendly and brotherly, adding that the two countries have positive and constructive cooperation in fight against terrorism and Azerbaijan is determined to continue cooperating with Iran.
