The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization called for realization of necessary measures for ending the Armenian occupation of Azerbaijani lands.

ISESCO Director General, Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri said his organization was against of all forms of aggression and the illegal occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia.

The director general made the remarks on the sidelines of the 3rd Global Shared Societies Forum in Baku.

Altwaijri said all the resolutions of the UN Security Council on this issue should be fulfilled. "We are waiting for fair and just position by UN superpowers to put an end to
this occupation," he said.

"The world community is asking to take actions for ending occupation of Azerbaijani lands, to preserve all religious and social legacy of this part of the world, and to restore all that has been taken from it," he said.

The conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh was sparked after Armenian troops invaded large swathes of land in Azerbaijan in the early 1990s. Following bloody skirmishes, Armenia armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized and historical territory. The conflict has yet to be resolved since Armenia has systematically refused to abide by international calls to withdraw from the Nagorno-Karabakh and seven other adjacent regions.

Assessing the Baku Forum, the ISESCO chief said it was a very important event gathering former presidents, prime ministers, intellectuals from different parts of the world and it would help resolve very important issue for the humanity - the issue of world order.

"Democracy, respect of human rights, justice and equality should be basis for the world order," he concluded.
