President Ilham Aliyev receives Governor of Russian Astrakhan Oblast - UPDATE - PHOTOS

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a Russian delegation led by Governor of the Astrakhan Oblast Alexander Zhilkin.

The Astrakhan Governor congratulated the Head of State on his re-election as President of Azerbaijan. He noted he had eye-witnessed rapid development processes in Azerbaijan in recent years. Touching upon the cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Astrakhan Oblast, Mr Zhilkin said the trade had grown four times in past years, and expressed hope it will further increase.

The Head of State noted bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, as well as Azerbaijan`s cooperation with republics of the Russian Federation had been developing on all fronts.

President Ilham Aliyev hailed Alexander Zhilkin`s contribution to strengthening these bonds.
President Ilham Aliyev stressed the importance of reciprocal visits in terms of expansion of friendly relations between Azerbaijan and the Astrakhan Oblast.

Touching upon the joint projects, the President described the “Astrakhan-Baku” park, which will be inaugurated in Baku, as a strong signal of friendship.

President Ilham Aliyev said that Alexander Zhilkin was awarded with Azerbaijan`s “Friendship” (Dostlug) Order for his special contributions to development of economic and cultural relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, and presented the order to the Astrakhan Governor.

Alexander Zhilkin expressed gratitude to the Azerbaijani President for the award.
