The government of Armenia, which does its utmost to hamper the settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, now tries to silence every Armenian, who voices support to peace efforts of Baku.

The Platform was established on December 6, 2016, to contribute to the peaceful settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.  Several Armenian human rights activists visited Baku to participate in a peacekeeping conference. Right after that, those people became persecuted in their homeland Armenia.

For instance, a young Armenian writer Lusine Nersisian was temporarily arrested in Nagorno-Karabakh right after her interview in Azerbaijani mass media where she had expressed her support for the peaceful initiative. Relatives of civil society activist, Armen Virabyan, who requested political asylum in Azerbaijan, were subjected to persecution in Yerevan. Social activist from Yerevan, Tamella Arzumanyan and writer from the U.S. Anna Paitian, as well as their relatives, were also subjected to persecution and pressure.

However, the Armenian government did not succeed in its desire to quiet the Armenians, who want establishment of a peace between the two neighboring countries, as more and more Armenians support the Platform.

Armenian artist Henrik Khachatryan, who currently lives in the U.S., announced that proponents of peace from both sides must stay in constant communication.

Talking to Azvision on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Peace Platform, the artist voiced support to the platform saying that the start of the process deserves ovations.

Khachatryan further added that he is familiar and agrees with the position of the Platform member, Armenian human rights activist Vahe Avetyan, who had repeatedly said that Armenia ignores international law and it must respect the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

The artist also shared his views on the current Armenian government. “In 1996, Serzh Sargsyan was one of the direct agents of Levon Ter-Petrosyan [first President of Armenia], who managed to retain control over corrupt government with the help of rigged elections. He is also the successor of Kocharyan [second President], who inflicted a crushing blow to the sovereignty of Armenia,” he added.

Khachatryan said that he is against the criminal government of the oligarchs in Armenia, “which dominates in the country in the last 25 years.”

He named Sargsyan “one of the most active thieves of power” and “an ordinary criminal.”

The artist believes if to bring him to impartial and fair trial, he will get life imprisonment at a minimum.
