Azerbaijan continues to attract CIS residents

Azerbaijan was listed among the three leading countries where the residents of the Commonwealth of Independent States wish to rest.

The CIS Interparliamentary Assembly’s website made an inquiry to find out in which member country of the Commonwealth they would like to rest. More than 216 residents participated in the inquiry at this website, in connection with the declaration of 2014 the Year of Tourism in the CIS.

Russian tour operators note strong growth in demand for tours to the CIS countries. They said that, the cost of tours plays an important role in determining the preferred tourist destinations.

Tours to the Commonwealth countries are considerably cheaper compared to those in other countries. The comfort level in CIS resorts can already be compared with the Baltic countries.

CIS countries are the main region supplying tourists to Azerbaijan. Tourists from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries are frequent guests of the Land of Fire. About 40 percent, out of more than 2.5 million foreigners who visited our country in 2013, were citizens of the CIS countries.

There are 530 hotels functioning in Azerbaijan, and their number has doubled in seven years. The country attaches great attention to attract more tourists, and for this purpose, improves tourism services.
