A book titled "Ilham: Portrait of a President", published by Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran in Persian, has been presented in Iran.

Addressing the ceremony attended by famous figures of Iran, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Tehran Javanshir Akhundov informed about the book written by renowned researcher Gril Wilson in English in 40 chapters. He noted that the book tells about history of Azerbaijan, the independence it restored in early 20th century, public and political processes that happened in Soviet times and outcomes of aggressive policies implemented by Armenia against Azerbaijan, merits of national leader Heydar Aliyev and ongoing development in Azerbaijan.

Secretary to the Ecology Ministry of Iran, Head of Center for World Religions Research, Ambassador Ali Ashraf Mojtahed Shabustari, senior researcher at the Academy of Persian Language Literature Ali Alasgarzade Mahrami and Head of SOCAR Office in Iran Oqtay Sadiqzade shared their impressions on the book. The speakers said the book widely analyzes the reasons that led to creation of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the first democratic republic in the East and the demise of this republic and the tragedies that the country suffered during the Soviet regime.

Noting that Azerbaijan experienced a crisis of power both at the beginning and end of the century, the authors wrote that occupation policy of Armenia went down into the history as an aggression against the statehood of Azerbaijan in both cases. Returning to power again in 1993, he successfully fulfilled the mission of a savior compelling Armenia to ceasefire and contributed to complex development of regions of the country by his far-sighted oil strategy.

During the presidency of Ilham Aliyev, successor of national leader Heydar Aliyev, Azerbaijan consolidated its stance on international arena and welfare of the people significantly improved.
The 512-page book with high design and refined polygraph contains rare photos reflecting activity of President Ilham Aliyev.
