Baku circuit, which will host the first Formula One races in Azerbaijan in 2016, will look much more attractive than what is designed on the paper, said Hermann Tilke, who has designed most of the circuits for Formula One, the f1news.ru website reported.

Tilke said the track’s circle, running through the streets of Azerbaijan’s capital, will look much more attractive in real life.

“You should see the circuit in three dimensions, and it is impossible to understand this from the scatches,” he said, adding that the track runs towards the old town in Baku, and then goes along the fortress wall of the 13th century.

“All this will be very interesting,” the designer stressed. “This will be a temporary circuit running along the existing roads.”

Tilke further noted that the coating on some of the roads will be changed.

“The track is very fast, and it completely differs from any other city circuit in the world. It is not like in Monaco or Singapore. It will be something very special,” Tilke highlighted.

The layout of the exciting new Baku European Grand Prix street circuit was presented in Baku in October 2014.

F1 entered into a 9-year contract with Baku. This comes as similar contracts are concluded for only 7-years.

"We have created a challenging street circuit, in terms of engineering and design, and one that thrives on Baku's very attractive urban atmosphere and its great combination of history and 21st century style. The historic city centre, the beautiful seaside promenade and the impressive government house all are combined in a way to provide the perfect backdrop for a spectacular new track," Tilke said back in October.

The street circuits present a number of challenges, in terms of circuit design, but the company has been able to incorporate some unique features that will provide the teams and fans with fascinating racing.

The length of the route in Baku will be 6 km with 8 turns to right and 12 to left. The speed on the track will reach 340 km/h.

The track will start and finish near Government House and covers all the landmarks of the capital city, medieval Old City, modern iconic skyline and spectacular views across the Caspian Sea.
