EU official: Parliamentary elections will be transparent, monitored by EU

Parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan will be held in the fall of 2015.

The EU welcomes Azerbaijan’s actions taken to conduct transparent elections, said Malena Mard, the ambassador and the head of the EU delegation to Azerbaijan, at a workshop organized by the Central Election Commission (CEC) and the EU in Baku.

“The next parliamentary election, to be held in Azerbaijan in November 2015, increased an interest in the country, and international observers will closely monitor this election,” she said.

Mard also stated that the EU is ready to render support for the election process in Azerbaijan and other countries at a higher level.

“The workshop that was held in Baku on August 14 will be also organized in other regions of Azerbaijan,” she said.

Parliamentary elections are planned for November 2015.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Chairman and Executive Secretary of the ruling party Ali Ahmadov said that the conditions exist for the New Azerbaijan ruling party to achieve great success in the upcoming elections.

“The current political atmosphere in the country, the successful policy of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the dynamic economic development, the growth of welfare of the population, the socio-economic development of the country’s regions, increasing of Azerbaijan’s authority in the international arena, stability and prosperity are the main factors contributing to the victory of the ruling party," he said.
