Fates of Azerbaijani citizens taken hostage in Kalbajar top issue, says state committee

Azerbaijani State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing People has today said that the fate of Azerbaijani citizens taken hostages in the Kalbajar District, is its priority.

Armenian media has previously spread materials as well as photos and videos about the Azerbaijani citizens taken hostage in the Kalbajar District.

The commission, under its authority, has immediately informed the international organizations about the issue and demanded holding an investigation into the matter under international humanitarian and legal norms, and conducting all the necessary procedures.

Works are underway to clarify the identities of the captured citizens. As soon as more information is available, it will be distributed publicly.

Earlier, Armenian media reported that Azerbaijani citizens were detained in the territories occupied by Armenian armed forces.

They were represented by these media as soldiers, but the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry dismissed the reports.
