President of Azerbaijan to attend ground-breaking ceremony of Baku-Tbilisi-Qars railroad's Turkish section

A ground breaking ceremony of the Turkish section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Qars railroad will be held on July 24 of this year, reports Day.Az with reference to Turkish Cihan news agency.
The ceremony is to be attended by the Presidents of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia.

It should be noted that a missing section of the railroad, extending 76 kilometers, will be laid in Turkey in the framework of the project. The construction of the Turkish section is estimated at YTL 380 mln. The project is to be completed in 2009. The project Marmaris-tunnel construction under Bosporus will finish by that time, which will allow to create a railway connection with Europe.

It is also planned to lay a new 105 km section of the railroad with 76 kilometers in Turkey and 29 km in Georgia in the framework of the Baku-Tbilisi-Qars project. Moreover a 183 km section of the Akhalkalaki-Marabda-Tbilisi railroad will be reconstructed in Georgia to raise annual capacity to 15 mln tons. It is also planned to build a train passing point from Georgia Europe.
