Top military brass of Azerbaijan exchanged views on several aspects of military cooperation with their Turkish counterparts in Istanbul, Turkey on May 6.

Attending the IDEF-2015 international defense industry exhibition in Istanbul, Defense Minister, Zakir Hasanov held a number of meetings with top Turkish military officials where the sides talked over the current military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey, mutual partnership in military, military-technical and military education spheres.

Colonel General Hasanov discussed in details the upcoming joint military drills of the Azerbaijani and Turkish Armed Forces.

The Azerbaijani-Turkish land forces will team up for the next tactical exercises in Azerbaijan from May 12 to 16.

Azerbaijani delegation headed by Hasanov reviewed the weapons and military equipments made by defense industry companies of various countries showcased at the IDEF-2015 exhibition.

Hasanov also watched the Azerbaijani Defense Industry Ministry's stand displaying the weapons of different assignments made at the ministry's various facilities.

The Azerbaijani authorities attach special attention and care to improve the military and defense industry skills of the country making it fit to compete with modern norms and standards.

Baku periodically announces that increasing its military capabilities is of great importance for the country amid the ongoing conflict with Armenia in the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

The defense ministry confirmed that equipping the Azerbaijani Armed Forces with modern combat tanks, armored vehicles, artillery complexes, fighting jets and helicopters, as well as attracting specialists to all military spheres has been essential for the army's combat readiness. Additionally, the ministry announced that the military equipment at the disposal of the armed forces is replenished in accordance with the requirements and obligations shown in the documents signed by the Azerbaijani authorities within the cooperation with international structures.

Azerbaijan's rulers believe that, at a time when Armenia is taking no heed of norms and principles of international law, and continues its occupation policy and provocations along the line of contact, improving supplies to its armed forces is justified and needs no extra clarification.
