Proposal made on change of Milli Mejlis's name

The name of the Milli Majlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan should be changed to Millet Mejlisi (Council of the nation), Azerbaijani MP Zahid Oruc said at parliament's plenary session on Feb. 3.

"The Azerbaijani parliament is now called the Milli Majlis, as in the 90s. This name is not specific. We changed the National Bank's name to the Central Bank and I think that the name of Milli Majlis should be changed to Millet Mejlisi (Council of the nation)," the MP said.
