World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day marked in France

Azerbaijan’s Embassy in France and permanent representation to UNESCO have co-organized an event celebrating 31 December –World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day.

The event brought together representatives of Azerbaijani embassy, European-Azerbaijan Society, French public figures and Azerbaijanis living and studying in the country.

Chargé d'Affairs of the permanent representation to UNESCO Anar Karimov spoke of the history of the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day, initiated by national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev. Karimov underlined the strengthening of relations with Azerbaijanis living abroad was a part of foreign policy of his country. He also hailed the activity of the Azerbaijani House in Paris, European-Azerbaijan Society and “Ulduz” Association in increasing the French community’s awareness of the Azerbaijani truths.

Karimov stressed that thanks to President Ilham Aliyev’s successful domestic and foreign policy, Azerbaijan’s reputation had increased in international arena. He also spoke of the role of Azerbaijan’s first lady, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, goodwill ambassador of UNESCO and ISESCO Mehriban Aliyeva in informing the French public about the history and culture of the country.

Karimov stressed the Azerbaijanis living in France must exert all efforts to deliver the realities about the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to local people, so the Armenian lobby in this country is strong.

Advisor of the embassy Nigar Huseynova said establishment of the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day was part of national leader Heydar Aliyev`s far-sighted policy.
