Azerbaijan, Turkey mull defense co-op

Azerbaijan's Defence Minister, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov received the Ambassador of Turkey to Azerbaijan, Ismail Alper Coskun, the Defence Ministry said on Nov. 15.

During the meeting Hasanov noted that the official visit of Azerbaijani President, Ilham Aliyev to Turkey will contribute to the further strengthening of ties between the two countries, the ministry said.

According to the minister, military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey is based on the relations of friendship and brotherhood.

The defence minister also underlined the regional importance of liberating Azerbaijani lands occupied by Armenia, noting that Azerbaijan will not accept the fact of their being occupied.

During the meeting the sides exchanged views on regional and bilateral cooperation, as well as other issues of bilateral interest, the ministry said.

The meeting was also attended by Turkey's military attaché in Azerbaijan, Brigadier General Hasan Nevzat Tasdeler.
