10 September 2013 [08:30] - TODAY.AZ
U.S. President Barack Obama has sent a letter to Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev.

"I would like to inform you that I fully support Ambassador James Warlick, appointed as new co-chairman of the OSCE Minsk Group from the U.S in connection with his first official visit to Baku," the letter said.

"His recent appointment is an important sign of the U.S strong and unequivocal loyalty to the case of assisting the parties in achieving the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict."

Obama expressed confidence that Ambassador Warlick's rich diplomatic experience and Azerbaijan's desire to gain achievements will give a new impetus to the co-chairmen's activity and the peace process.

"I support the use of the opportunities of the direct dialogue with Armenia in the coming months and the use of the co-chairmen's opportunities and time in the negotiations to find a way out of the current stalemate," Barack Obama's letter said.

"Now it is time when it is necessary to make new efforts to restore peace in the region within a compromise determined in the negotiations," the U.S. president said in his letter.
