PABSEC mulls reforms on social security in Baku

28 November 2012 [18:16] - TODAY.AZ
The issues of improving social welfare, culture and education are being considered at the General Assembly session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) in Baku today.

Deputy chairman of the Ukrainian delegation in PABSEC Lilia Grigorovich made a report and said that the social security system softens the blows of the economic crises made to some individuals and in general, to families.

"The social security system plays an important role of social and economic stabilisers and do not allow the reduction of the quality of human capital during a crisis," Grigorovich said.

She stressed that the BSEC member states have recently begun large scale reforms in the social security system carrying them through the development of existing schemes, or using new ones.
