Japan's Chiyoda Corp. wants to partner Azerbaijan's state energy firm SOCAR in the construction of petrochemical plants in the ex-Soviet state and in neighbouring Turkey, SOCAR said on Friday.
In a statement, SOCAR quoted its head Rovnag Abdullayev as saying after talks with the Japanese firm that "Chiyoda's offer will be studied." It gave no details.
SOCAR this month announced plans to raise up to 22 billion euros ($33.94 billion) to invest in building new oil and gas refineries in Azerbaijan. It said it would seek funding from international lenders, but declined to give names.
It plans to start building an oil processing and petrochemical complex in Turkey in October this year as part of a consortium that includes Turkish energy company Turcas TRCAS.IS.
