Azerbaijani Defense Ministry responds to new WikiLeaks info

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry refutes WikiLeaks's new publications on Defense Minister Safar Abiyev's negotiations, Ministry Spokesman Eldar Sabiroglu said.

WikiLeaks informed about the alleged details of Abiyev's talks with former U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Anne Derse.

"I was very surprised after reading the publication. I, as the ministry's spokesman, have attended many meetings, especially the negotiations with foreign ambassadors," Sabiroglu said. "I well remember a meeting with Mrs. Derse and I had not witnessed such a conversation."

"The text looks more like a fable and creates the impression that it is a provocative, which aims to damage relations between the two countries," he noted.
