General Prosecutor demands extradition of Rovshan Janiyev seeking political refuge in Ukraine

The General Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan appealed to the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine in connection with the political refuge provision to Azerbaijani citizen Rovshan Janiyev, Press-Service of the General Prosecutor’s Office told APA.

The Prosecutor’s Office considered it as an illegal action and demanded the Ukrainian counterpart to investigate the issue and to take appropriate measures for the annulment of the decision and to extradite Janiyev to Azerbaijan.

Rovshan Janiyev known as "Rovshan Lankaranski" in the criminal world is suspected in the crime committed in 2000 in Azerbaijan. He is wanted on Article 120 of the Azerbaijan’s Criminal Code (deliberate murder) and was detained in Kiev in February.
