Azerbaijan’s beautiful capital Baku has repeatedly ranked first among the cities of the CIS on the popularity of summer travel. The autumn season also promises to be a good one for baku, dubbed as the City of Winds.

Tourist service portal Turstat has revealed the most popular cities among the tourists from the CIS for travel this autumn.

Baku is in the Top 3 cities of the CIS for popularity among tourists, followed by Tashkent, Ashgabat, Kiev, Kishinev, Bishkek and Erevan.

The rating is based on the results of the analysis of the data of online booking systems for accommodation facilities for tourists.

Tourists will visit Baku on average for 3 days and spend on living $ 78 per day, according to Turstat.

The most inexpensive cities of the CIS for tourists are Bishkek and Kishinev, while the most expensive is Astana.

Situated along the Caspian Sea, Baku is a great mix of Asian and Western cultures, of the old and new, all of which is best reflected in the city’s sights and landmarks.

The capital Baku is on the Caspian Sea, but also home to oil drilling derricks and futuristic skyscrapers.

Unique culture and history, delicious food and wine and plenty of adventures are awaiting travelers in the capital city of Azerbaijan.

Travelers can explore the famed medieval Old City, hailed as a “must-visit”, which houses the UNESCO-listed Shirvanshah’s Palace, and Maiden Tower. Admire the city’s contemporary buildings such as the Heydar Aliyev Center, designed by Zaha Hadid, and the Flame Towers – a trio of skyscrapers covered with LEDs and displaying the mesmerizing movement of a flame.

Over the past 10 years, the number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan increased by five times.

Here, the Caucasus Mountains are as earthy as you can get, peppered with traditional elevated villages such as Lahic, where subsistence farming and traditional art forms still alive. And then there is fire. Everywhere. From the permanently alight natural gas ‘flaming mountain’ of Yanardag to fire worshippers’ temple Ateshgah, both on the Absheron Peninsula. And as for air, just head to the omnipresent mountains, ideal for visiting any time of year, whether summer or winter.

But beyond its nature, which is key reason for the tourism, the people of Azerbaijan are wonderfully welcoming and hospitable.
