The World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, started in Baku today, is very important for politicians and activists of the civil society in terms of sharing experience and dialogue, the expert on South Caucasus, the former senior fellow at the Hudson Institute in Washington, Dr. Zeyno Baran said.
"This meeting is very important," she told Tend at the forum today. The turnout is fantastic. The subjects are very important. It is significant that it is taking place in Azerbaijan, which is really at the meeting point of different cultures, different traditions, and different religions of East and West, North and South."
It is very important that people of different cultures and religions talk to each other and learn experience from each other, she said.
"The result of such meetings can be the understanding more about communalities because unless you meet with people from cultures or religions often we don't know much about them," she said. It is very important to hear different prospective.
Sometimes they help not only to understand the other side but also understand ourselves better, understand our own culture, our own religion and see some similarities and differences and they both helpful. Seeing the differences is also helpful because it makes one understand why someone is following a particular culture or religion, she said.
