Azerbaijan`s Parliament Speaker meets Chairperson of Federation Council of Russia

Parliament Speaker of Azerbaijan Ogtay Asadov has met Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko.

Valentina Matviyenko highlighted strategic partner relations between Azerbaijan and Russia. The Chairperson said cooperation would be continued in bilateral format, as well as within the international organizations. Valentina Matviyenko touched upon erecting a monument to the well-known public-political person Aziz Aliyev in Makhachkala and highlighted his services between Azerbaijani and Dagestani nations.

The Chairperson spoke about the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying Russia supports peaceful settlement of the problem. She described the Vienna meeting of Azerbaijani and Armenian President as an important step taken in this regard.

Ogtay Asadov, in turn, applauded mediation of Russian President Vladimir Putin in peaceful solving the problem.

The Speaker underlined the steadily developing relations between the two countries.

Valentina Matviyenko presented Medal of “Federal Council 20th Anniversary” to Speaker Ogtay Asadov.
