Azerbaijan, Dagestan have lots of joint projects on agenda

Baku is hosting Days of Dagestan for the first time on May 12-13, stipulating a series of events, where Dagestan presents its economy, culture, traditions and history, as well as, tourism potential.

As part of the events, Head of the Dagestan Republic Ramazan Abdulatipov is visiting Azerbaijan to hold talks with the country’s authorities.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received a delegation led by Head of Russia’s Dagestan Republic on May 12.

Hailing the bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Russia and Azerbaijan and Dagestan, the president said that Dagestan always was and will be a native land for Azerbaijanis, where their brothers with whom the country has historic ties, live.

President Ilham Aliyev underlined that Azerbaijan-Dagestan brotherhood played a vital role in the development of the bilateral relations between Russia and Azerbaijan, which the two countries regard as strategic.

The head of state said Azerbaijan was greatly satisfied with ongoing development processes, stable public and political situation in Dagestan under the leadership of Ramazan Abdulatipov, and extended his congratulations on significant accomplishments.

Abdulatipov thanked the President of Azerbaijan for warm words and his attention to the issues of cooperation with Dagestan.

The head of Dagestan recalled his previous meetings with President Ilham Aliyev, and emphasized the importance of the head of state`s position on the Russian language and culture.

During the meeting they exchanged views over different areas of cooperation.

Ramazan Abdulatipov further met with his compatriots, who live in Azerbaijan. Addressing the meeting, he said that Dagestan can assist Azerbaijan in creating a Dagestani Cultural Center and can implement a large number of joint projects in the sphere of tourism.

He talked about new projects being implemented in Dagestan Republic and beyond, on preserving the culture and language of the peoples residing in Dagestan.

In an exclusive interview to Trend, Abdulatipov said that Azerbaijan and Dagestan have a lot of joint projects on the agenda.

Abdulatipov said the purpose of his trip is to fully realize Dagestan's potential, its historic role and closeness to Azerbaijan for intensifying the Russia-Azerbaijan relations.

A large number of projects, including those on restoring Derbent and opening a street named after Heydar Aliyev, are already under implementation, said Abdulatipov.

He went on to add that before visiting Azerbaijan, he had agreed many points of cooperation with Russia's presidential administration.

He noted that the Republic intends to give the highest possible momentum to the Russia-Azerbaijan relations by holding the 'Days of Dagestan' in Azerbaijan.

“Currently, there are many logistics, agricultural, cultural and sports projects on the agenda of cooperation,” he said, adding that those projects can significantly improve the cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan continues to strengthen business cooperation with Russian regions, thus increasing number of mutual agreements and business entities.

Bilateral agreements on trade-economic, scientific-technical, and cultural cooperation were signed with a number of Russian regions at the intergovernmental level till now.
