The Central Election Commission has reviewed and approved representatives of six parties for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Twenty five people from 19 polling stations have put forward their candidacy to participate in the parliamentary election in Azerbaijan, CEC Chairman Mazahir Panahov said at the CEC’s meeting on September 2.

The parliamentary election in the country is scheduled for November 1.

He noted that this year’s parliamentary election is expected to be more active and will involve more parties and candidates.

The authorized representatives of three more political parties were also registered at the CEC meeting.

Thus, some 37 authorized representatives of the Umid party, seven representatives of the Democratic Reforms Party, 12 representatives – the Great Order Party of Azerbaijan appealed to the CEC for registration.

Earlier, the CEC approved 158 permanent representatives of ruling “Yeni Azerbaijan” (YAP) party, 21 of the Civil Solidarity and 10 of Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan.

Panahov further announced that the CEC will hold a series of events in September and October over the elections.

“Tomorrow, a seminar on preparation for the parliamentary elections will be held together with the European Union,” he said.

Panahov reminded that political parties should be more careful and not start early election campaign.

The pre-election campaign will start on October 9 and will end on October 31 at 8:00 (UTC/GMT +4 hours). The pre-election campaign begins 23 days before voting. This year, it will begin on October 9 and end on October 30. The pre-election agitation leaflets will be placed at polling stations until October 2.

All election documents necessary for the registration of candidates should be submitted to the district election commissions from September 12 to October 2 until 18:00 (UTC/GMT +4 hours).

Azerbaijan, as a country devoted to democratic principles in the international arena, has always created conditions for all international institutions showing an interest for the election.

Registration for election monitoring should be submitted to the CEC on October 22.

Meanwhile, OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights forms mission to observe the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan. Some 380 observers are expected to come to the country. 30 of them will carry out long-term and 350 short-term observations.

Local observers should submit their documents to the district election commission five days prior to voting.

To conduct transparent elections, more than 1,000 cameras are expected to be installed in polling stations in Azerbaijani regions and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Some 296 cameras will be installed in Baku polling stations alone.
