Elnur Aslanov: Azerbaijan is known as place of stability in region

19 December 2013 [16:25] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijan will never bear with occupation of its lands, Chief of Political Analysis and Information Provision Department of Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, Elnur Aslanov said at the first Congress of the ASAN youth organization of volunteers in Baku on Dec. 19.

"Today Azerbaijan is known as a place of stability and security in the region. The country plays a stabilizing role in the region. But, unfortunately, Armenia's aggressor, occupancy, terrorist policy against Azerbaijan poses a threat to the whole region," Aslanov said.

"We want the occupation policy-conducting Armenian to be punished not only by Azerbaijan and Turkey, but also other countries, international and regional organizations," he said.

"Despite the UN Security Council's resolutions are sometimes executed within a few hours, the resolutions associated with the occupation of the Azerbaijani territory have remained on paper for 20 years."

"Azerbaijan is doing and will do everything possible to restore justice," he said.

"The negotiations were our biggest concession," Aslanov said. "Other ways have been never excluded to restore territorial integrity. This is our sovereign right and we reserve this right. The Azerbaijani side supports peaceful settlement of the conflict. But Armenia must demonstrate constructive position. Only then we can start working on the peace agreement."

"We must be ready for the post-conflict period," he said.

"Sooner or later, this conflict will be resolved as there is no other way out," he said. "Armenia and the forces supporting it will fail to resist strong Azerbaijan. Armenia is rapidly devastating. We are witnessing a process of Armenians' disappearing from the region. Armenians leave the South Caucasus due to poverty, and flee to other countries."

Aslanov went on to note that the reason for Armenia being in such condition is because of Azerbaijan.

"We don't hide this. This process will not stop while Yerevan's occupation policy continues," Aslanov said. "We are looking at youth with great hope as at our future colleagues. We believe that you will achieve considerable success. Your activity will grow and you will popularize Azerbaijan in any country you go."
