“As an OSCE Minsk Group co-chair country, France tries to resolve the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia."

We hope that Azerbaijan will achieve the resolution of the problem according to its position,” French Senator, Vice-president of the Rhône-Alpes Jean Besson  told APA.

The Senator said he believes that his country will take the most neutral position for Azerbaijan and will do its best to resolve the conflict: “We believe that the solution satisfying Azerbaijan will be achieved in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Azerbaijan will achieve the resolution of the issue according to its interests and rights.”

Besson noted that there are high level relations between Azerbaijan and France and expressed satisfaction with the development of cooperation in the energy sphere: “I paid a visit to Azerbaijan together with the French delegation in September last year. We held discussions on cooperation in the energy sphere. We had meetings with the President of Azerbaijan. There are prospects for cooperation in many spheres. For example, tourism industry is one of them. Moreover, there are opportunities for the development of cooperation in the field of culture.”

The Senator underlined that the issues on the cooperation in tourism sector were discussed during his visit to Azerbaijan. He said Rhône-Alpes is a leading region of France in the field of winter tourism and skiing: “We were informed that Azerbaijan has programs for the development of tourism in this direction. Mountain tourism is an important and promising sphere. We can cooperate and share our experience in this field.”
