Ali Hasanov: 'Tension in Azerbaijani-Iranian relations eliminated'

14 July 2012 [22:42] - TODAY.AZ
The information confrontation and tension between Iran and Azerbaijan at various levels are being eliminated, Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Social and Political Department Head Ali Hasanov told media in Ganja today.

He said that this issue includes the will of the Azerbaijani and Iranian sides.

"As it is known, several Western circles, including some anti-Azerbaijani and anti-Iranian circles, played an important role in this situation," he added. "Unfortunately, the confrontation between the two neighboring countries and the violation of the relations between them are in the interests of some geopolitical, official and unofficial circles."

"The visit of Iranian special envoy at the ministerial level, the invitation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Iran and calls in a letter sent in connection with this invitation, demonstrate the country's desire to avoid confrontation with Azerbaijan," Hasanov said.

"Today this confrontation takes place at different levels," he added.

"In particular, the arrest of two young Azerbaijanis in Iran caused serious discontent of the Azerbaijani public," he said. "We believe that the release of these young people will also happen in the near future. The Foreign Ministry and other state bodies make every effort within the international law, including the legal documents between Azerbaijan and Iran. We think that this issue will be resolved soon."
