Spain to open embassy in Baku

Spain will open an embassy in Azerbaijan, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Gonzalo de Benito Sekades said on his visit to Azerbaijan today.

He said the opening of the embassy will play a crucial role in terms of relations between the two countries.

"We are advocates of an early opening of the Spanish Embassy in Azerbaijan. This issue was discussed at meetings held in Baku," he said.

He noted that Spain will close the embassies in Africa and some European countries.

Sekades has invited Azerbaijani side to participate in international exhibition to be held in October 2012 in Madrid.
