Azerbaijan, the country that put emphasis on development of the non-oil sector and the high technology in particular, has created a new company to produce computers for both local use and export.

Company H-Tech Invest will manufacture computer equipment at the production facilities of the Mingachevir High Tech Park, a branch of the High Tech Park located in Baku, a source in the telecommunications market of the country told Trend.

The H-Tech Invest Company has also received the status of a resident at the High Technology Park.

The new company will replace the company KUR, which was established in 2005 and was the only company engaged in assembly-line production of computer equipment and electronics in the South Caucasus region.

Earlier, the plant has started production of computer hardware under Acer brand name.

The KUR plant recently upgraded its power supply to start the production of brand-name computer equipment. The main goals are to attract foreign capital into the project and to create opportunities to export the finished products to foreign markets.

In the near future, the Mingachevir High Tech Park will start production of various high-tech products under the brand Made in Azerbaijan.

An initial investment of 2 million manats (about $1.9 million) was allocated to the project.

An incubation business center was already established on the territory of the Mingachevir branch. The business incubator is organized on the principle of the incubator operating in Baku and contributes to support innovative ideas and projects as well as new technological solutions at the regional level.
