The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) has not appealed to the Tariff (price) Council with a proposal to increase the price for natural gas on the country's domestic market, head of the SOCAR, Rovnag Abdullayev told journalists on Feb. 11.

In early December, 2013, the Tariff Council of Azerbaijan increased the tariff for the gross sale of natural gas by enterprises from 42 manats per 1000 cubic meters to 80 manats. The retail price of gas is 100 manat per 1000 cubic meters.

In 2013 the Azerigas Production Association (PA) provided the population with over 2.2 billion cubic meters of gas. As of January 1, 2014, the number of the Azerbaijani gas operator's subcribers stood at 1,647,906.

Some 1,628,076 out of the total number of subscribers account for the population and 19,830 for other subscriber categories.

SOCAR's Azneft PA gas is being processed at SOCAR's gas processing plant.

Following the processing, the plant transmits products on behalf of Azneft PA to Azerigaz PA which deals with the distribution and sale of gas in Azerbaijan and Meishetmayegaz LLC which sends it on for natural gasoline export.

The official exchange rate on Feb. 11 is 0.7843 AZN/USD.
