Azerbaijan to evacuate 15 citizens from earthquake zone in Turkey

Fifteen Azerbaijani citizens will be evacuated from the Turkish Van Province, jolted by a strong earthquake, in the nearest hours, Consul of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Ankara Shohrat Mustafayev said.

He said they are students and teachers studying and working in higher education institutions in the Van Province.

They will be delivered to Azerbaijan with the Embassy's assistance by the Azerbaijani Emergency Situations Ministry's aircraft, taking Azerbaijani rescuers, equipment and humanitarian aid to the disaster area.

Mustafayev said so far the Embassy has not received information about the affected Azerbaijani citizens.

The earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale jolted Van Province in Turkey on Sunday.
