The families of individuals accused of terrorism and war crimes during the Karabakh conflict have addressed a letter to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, requesting assistance in securing their relatives’ release. They claim that Azerbaijan is holding these individuals unlawfully and describe them as innocent detainees.
However, according to official investigations and relevant
state authorities, the individuals in question are allegedly implicated in
serious crimes against civilians during the conflict.
Labeling lawful arrests and judicial proceedings as “illegal
detention” is viewed by officials as a misrepresentation of legal processes and
an attempt to politicize ongoing court cases. Those suspected of involvement in
violence during the Karabakh conflict are expected to be held accountable in
accordance with the law.
Authorities emphasize that legal assessments and decisions rest solely with the judiciary, not with political statements or external pressure.
