The Synergy Baku Cycling Project is set to get back to Kazakhstan at a one-day race Tour of Almaty on October 5.

Azeri team will take part in 1.1 ranked race in Kazakhstan. The squad consists of eight riders.

This is one of the rare appearances of the team in a ranked 1.1 race and will give the young Azeri riders the opportunity to measure their capabilities against some of the top riders in the world, including Tour de France winner Vincenzo Nibali of the Kazakh-based Team Astana.

Elchin Asadov, Enver Asanov, Ismail Iliasov, Tural Isgandarov and Samir Jabrayilov will represent Azerbaijan in the Synergy Baku colors. Matt Brammeier, Markus Eibegger and Christoph Schweizer round out the team.

"We are delighted to be back at the GP Almaty again and happy to see that the Kazakhstan Federation has been awarded a 1.1 class ranking," said Team Manager David McQuaid. "In Kazakhstan, just like in Azerbaijan, they are investing heavily in cycling. But even though we are neighbors, those friendships stop on Sunday -- there is a race to win and I am sure our team will win."

The race is 186 kilometers, multiple laps of a circuit course in the former Kazakh capital city.

One of the largest local investment groups in Azerbaijan Synergy Group OJSC supports "Synergy Baku" cycling team, thus further contributing to the development of cycling in Azerbaijan.
