U.S.willing to cooperate with new Ukrainian president

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said that Washington is ready to work with President-elect of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, RIA Novosti reported.

Extraordinary presidential elections in Ukraine have taken place on Sunday. After calculation of 90.01 % of the ballots cast, the billionaire Poroshenko gained 54.22 % of the vote, and former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko gained 13% of the vote.

"The successful holding of the elections confirms Ukraine's commitment to the democratic process. The U.S. will continue to work with the people of Ukraine and the President-elect to develop the victory of democracy. We will support efforts of (the citizens of) Ukraine who want to determine their own future in a united, more independent and prosperous Ukraine," RIA Novosti quotes Kerry.
