Erdogan expects Assad's soon or late abdication

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad will leave his office sooner or later, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, Anadolu agency reported on Monday.

According to him, at least 100,000 civilians were killed during the military operations held by Syrian governmental troops.

He also added that in spite of the humanitarian crisis in Syria, there are forces in Turkey which support Assad regime.

The clashes between the government forces and armed opposition have been continuing in Syria for over two years. According to UN statistics, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria is more than 110,000 people, nearly 3 million people need humanitarian aid.

The head of the Turkish Office for the Prevention and Emergency Management, Fuat Oktay said earlier that the number of Syrian refugees living in Turkey's territory hit 300,000 people.

According to him, over 181,000 people live in camps created by Turkish government for Syrian refugees. In addition, over 100,000 refugees have settled in the border provinces of Turkey, where they live outside the camps.
