Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has challenged
former presidents Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan to a
debate. The former do not tire of accusing the current head of government of
dragging Armenia into the war. And these accusations, of course, sound very
stupid and once again confirm that the nationalists want to rewrite the history
of the Karabakh conflict and start it on September 27, 2020. But Pashinyan,
apparently, is not going to allow them to do this.
The Armenian Prime Minister stated: "Levon
Ter-Petrosyan, Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan constantly claim that I
dragged Armenia into the war. Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Robert Kocharyan and Serzh
Sargsyan, well, if it was me who dragged Armenia into the war, then what was an
18-year-old soldier of the Republic of Armenia doing outside the sovereign
territory of the Republic of Armenia in 2018? - Pashinyan asked a question. -
Listen, if you brought victory to the people, can you explain why, starting in
1996, you rigged the elections? How could the people not choose the leaders who
brought them victory? How? And the people did not choose you because, contrary
to the supposedly paid analysts, "national" and "honored"
artists, the mothers who feed Armenia and the patriarchal fathers who stand
behind them silently and judiciously understood that you did not bring victory,
but dragged Armenia into an abyss from which there is no way out," stated
Nikol Pashinyan. Adding, "Now tell me, are you coming to the debate or
not?" You can bring Ktrich, Samo, Gevorg and Vazgen with you. We can
organize the debate in my former cell at the Yerevan Center (SIZO), so that it
would be convenient for all of you."
Pashinyan has long been inviting opponents to an open
discussion, but they shy away. Robert Kocharyan prefers to answer him in an
interview with the media and wants the audience to perceive him as a
sophisticated aristocrat from politics who does not want to humiliate his
dignity by discussing with everyone there. Serzh Sargsyan is waiting for
instructions from Kocharyan. He does not show up at mass gatherings now and
only reminds himself of himself by appeals on one occasion or another. He's
afraid of something. And he has a lot to be afraid of. As folk wisdom says,
"the dog knows whose meat he ate." Serge came to power when the
occupation of his neighbor's territories was already rapidly dragging Armenia
to the bottom. At first, Kocharyan was still trying to make a good face,
relying on personal relations with Moscow, but Sargsyan did not have this tool
either. He got a country without sovereignty and with a defeated statehood. The
people hated him. Basically, the people hated the Karabakh clan from the very
beginning, and when things got really bad, Kocharyan retreated into the
shadows, exposing Sargsyan to a hail of rotten tomatoes instead. Serge had no
chance against Pashinyan. The Armenians wanted to get rid of the Karabakh
bloodsuckers so much that they were ready to follow anyone. And they were very
lucky that it was this politician who was ahead of the crowd, and not another
scoundrel who would benefit from instability in the region.
As for Ter-Petrosyan, his case is special. Kocharyan and
Sargsyan are war criminals, half-wits who moved to field commanders from the
Lenin Komsomol and intoxicated by the opportunity to slaughter, plunder and
destroy with impunity. But they were not the ideologists. They were simply
following in the footsteps of Levon Ter-Petrosyan, who, first as head of the
Supreme Council and then as President of Armenia, sanctioned all the crimes of
Armenians against the Azerbaijani people.
A video recording of Ter-Petrosyan's speech at the constituent assembly of the terrorist Yerkrap, which had been hidden from prying eyes for thirty years, recently got online and added color to the image of the first president of Armenia. Even Karabakh criminals did not allow themselves to do this on public platforms. It was an outright cynical Nazism without admixtures. And this figure, under whose leadership the ethnic cleansing of the indigenous population of Armenia and the military aggression against the neighbor were carried out, accuses Pashinyan today of dragging the republic into the war?
The Prime Minister's associates, fending off these attacks,
advise the public to turn to the events of the late 80s of the last century.
Armenia was drawn into the war by the processes that began then. Levon
Ter-Petrosyan probably forgot that it was he who blessed Miatsum at the
official level, and it was under him that decisions were made that became a
kind of verdict for Armenia.
In order not to be unfounded, let's turn to the witnesses of
those events. Sokhbet Mammadov is an Armenian scholar, head of the Irevan
Analytical Center. He is a refugee from Armenia, one of the last Azerbaijanis
to leave Yerevan.
Levon Ter-Petrosyan has no moral right to accuse Pashinyan
of anything. The Karabakh clan should also keep quiet, but Ter-Petrosyan stood
at the origins and the main blame for all the troubles of Armenia lies
primarily on him, Mammadov said.
Details from the Azerbaijani expert:
"I still remember that session of the Supreme Council
of Armenia. On December 1, 1989, I was still in Yerevan and watched it live on
TV. It was a very difficult and dangerous time. By December, there was
practically no Azerbaijani population left in Armenia, with the exception of a
few residents of the village of Nyvedi in the Meghri region. As for Yerevan,
several families, including ours, stayed here for one reason or another.
By that time, the Karabakh Committee, of which the future
first President of Armenia was a member, had already seized power in Armenia,
and Levon Ter-Petrosyan was sitting in the chair of the Chairman of the Supreme
Council of the Armenian SSR.
The meetings of the legislative body were broadcast live on television. Intoxicated by the idea of "miatsuma," the speakers added fuel to the fire, telling "about great Armenia," "historical injustice" against their people, about the "bitter fate" of Karabakh Armenians under the rule of Azerbaijan, and other tall tales. Listening to all this heresy was unbearable. And so, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, who was chairing the meeting, took out a piece of paper from his pocket, as they say now, threw it epically on the table with the words: "Everything is said here!", and impressively strode out of the hall, along the way picturesquely removing the collar of the trench (bandage) from his neck. I don't remember why he was wearing it, and it doesn't matter. That piece of paper was a draft resolution of the Supreme Court "On the reunification of the Armenian SSR and Nagorno-Karabakh." The audience cheered and unanimously approved the project.
Words cannot express what feelings I felt at that moment. In short, pain, anger, disappointment and fear for the lives of relatives.
Today, Ter-Petrosyan and the Karabakh kodla are running away
from debates with Pashinyan because they have caused so much trouble that
ordinary citizens do not want to see or hear them.
Levon Ter-Petrosyan launched a war against Azerbaijan. Under
his rule, about 250,000 thousand Azerbaijanis were forced to become refugees
and find refuge in the Azerbaijan SSR. It was a deliberate policy of
"Armenia without Turks," which Ter-Petrosyan proudly stated at a
meeting with Yerkrap thugs, noting that Armenians had been living with this idea
for 600 years.
He is also to blame for bringing the Karabakh clan led by
Robert Kocharian and Sergik Sargsyan to power. And I think everyone already
knows how much the Armenians hate this clan. So, the former have nothing to
stand up to Nikola Vovaevich in a direct debate. Therefore, they chose a
different path - through the mouth of paid pseudo-analysts and from the pages
of controlled media, they try to throw mud at Pashinyan and accuse him of
betraying the national interests of the Armenian people.
I would like to hope that prudence will prevail and the
Armenian people will not succumb to these tricks, because, like us, they no
longer want war.
In conclusion, I would like to pay tribute to the course
that the Prime Minister of Armenia has recently chosen. If Pashinyan manages to
bring it to an end, he can rightfully be called the Armenian Adenauer."
