U.S. will boost its activity in OSCE Minsk Group says Ambassador

13 July 2013 [09:12] - TODAY.AZ
The U.S. will intensify its activity in the OSCE Minsk Group and do its best to enhance the opportunities for the final settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar told reporters on Friday.

He was commenting on the meeting among Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen and Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, to be held in Vienna.

"The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is a painful problem for the Azerbaijani people," he said.

While commenting on the incident with Moldovan ombudsman Aurelia Grigoriu after her speech in the parliament, the ambassador said that he is well-informed about this issue.

"Taking into account my position, it would be better if I refrain from commenting," Morningstar said. "It would be better if the issue had been resolved between Moldova, Armenia and Azerbaijan."

While making a report at the Armenian Parliament, Moldovan Ombudsman Aurelia Grigoriu has recently stated that the Khojaly genocide was committed by Armenians, and this is an internationally recognized fact.

After her speech at the Armenian parliament, Moldovan ombudsman was not allowed to leave Armenia. She was kept in isolation and her life was threatened.

Grigoriu managed to leave Yerevan through the assistance of diplomatic missions accredited in Yerevan, without any apologizes that Armenia demanded.
