The event brings together more than 200 delegates from 35 world countries. The deputy chairman and executive secretary of the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) Ali Ahmadov made opening remarks.

Azerbaijan managed to achieve big changes in these years, Ahmadov stated at the Seventh General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP). According to him, living only the 21st year of independence, Azerbaijan has managed to develop rapidly and dynamically during this period.

At his words, under national leader Heydar Aliyev and worthy successor of his course Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani economy trebled, poverty rate reduced to 5-6% in 7-8 years and tens of thousands of workplaces were created.

“Azerbaijan is making a worthy contribution to the development of mankind. However, over the past 20 years, our country is faced with the occupation of 20% of its territory. The policy of ethnic cleansing pursued by the Armenian nationalists has subjected a million of our citizens,” Ahmadov underlined.

In this regard, he noted the importance of enhancing the efforts of international organizations, including the ICAPP, towards the settlement of the conflicts in the world.

“I believe that the 7th General Assembly of ICAPP will take important decisions,” he said. YAP’s Executive Secretary praised the creation of the youth organization of ICAPP, offering a forum of this structure to be held in Azerbaijan, stressing that the YAP stands ready to organize the event. He also proposed to create a women's organization of ICAPP.

According to Ahmadov, President Ilham Aliyev has been elected Chairman of the 7th General Assembly ICAPP. Then, the head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, Ramiz Mehdiyev, read a congratulatory letter from President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to participants of the 7th General Assembly of ICAPP.
