Azerbaijan and the Chechen Republic of the Russian Federation have signed an agreement to enhance trade and economic, scientific and technological ties.

The agreement was inked by Azerbaijani Prime Minister Artur Rasizade and head of the Chechen government Abubakar Edelgeriyev in Baku.

Speaking at a meeting, which involved Azerbaijani and Chechen delegations, prior to the signing ceremony, Rasizade said Azerbaijan attached particular emphasis to developing its relationship with all republics of the Russian Federation.

“There are friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Russia. I am sure that current visit of the Chechen delegation led by President of the Republic Ramzan Kadyrov to Azerbaijan will contribute to deepening the relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, and also to developing Azerbaijan`s ties with the Chechen Republic.”

The Azeri Premier pointed out there were good opportunities for building close cooperation with Chechnya in several sectors of economy. The head of the Chechen government echoed Rasizade`s views, saying: “Chechnya and Azerbaijan are located in the same region, and there are good prospects for partnership in many fields.”

Edelgeriyev praised Azerbaijan’s rapid progress. “The Chechen Republic wants to benefit from Azerbaijan’s experience in socio-economic sphere. There is a good potential to develop relations in culture, science, and also in fighting against terrorism and extremism,” he added.
