Hungary may consent to give its supports to the belated Nabucco project at a signature ceremony to take place in the Central Anatolian province of Kayseri in June with presence of participating countries, according to the Turkish Energy Minister, Hürriyet Daily News reported.
Speaking to the Turkish broadcaster CNNTürk, Energy Minister Taner Yıldız said the recent government change in Hungary made it possible for the support contract to be potentially signed on June 6.
Turkey is holding its national elections on June 12.
Yıldız said the real prevention before the Nabucco project was the uncertainty about the natural gas suppliers and the responsibility of this delay could not be put on the shoulders of Turkey. "I think it is high time that the candidate suppliers present their preferences about the matter. Even no is an acceptable answer," he said.
