Number of mobile communication users in Azerbaijan grows 1,200,000 through 9 months

Day.Az reports with reference to the State Statistical Committee that 76.2% of these services were provided directly to the population. It should be noted that 72.4% of the revenues were gained from mobile communication and the volume of these services grew 34.2% over the previous year. The number of mobile communication users in Azerbaijan grew 1,200,000 through 9 months making up 5,700,000 as of October 1.

The State Statistical Committee also reports that in January-August of 2008, the volume of production and services, produced by the communication enterprises in real prices made AZN 617,300,000, which is 33.8% rise. The added value volume in the ICT sector made AZN 419,900,000 within 8 months, which is 41.7% higher over the last year.

The number of employees, engaged in this sphere, made 21,000 people in January-July, which is 7.3% higher, as compared to the same period of the last year. The average salaries to them grew 21.7% up to AZN 404.3.
